This rechargeable battery set by Sanyo combines the Eneloop SD-USB3ACS USB 2-Position Charger with 2 AAA rechargeable batteries. The Eneloop SD-USB3ACS USB 2-Position Charger works with computers with a standard 5V USB Input. The Eneloop SD-USB3ACS USB 2-Position Charger charges 2 AA rechargeable batteries in 2.3 hours per cell or 2 AAA rechargeable batteries in one hour per cell. Eneloop batteries last longer because they lose charge slower than traditional rechargeable batteries.
About Eneloop Rechargeable Batteries
Before it was impossible to combine the advantages of disposable batteries with the advantages of rechargeable batteries and both types of batteries had their shortfalls. The Enloop battery is a new type of battery combines the advantages of disposable batteries with the advantages of rechargeable batteries. The Enloop was developed by SANYO in 2005 and launched in the European market in 2006.
Traditionally Disposable batteries could be used immediately out of the package and could be stored for months or even years without having worry about their self discharge and they could be used everywhere. However, once empty they had to be thrown away, were not biodegradable and a new battery had to be purchased.
When rechargeable batteries were created it solved the problem of landfill waste caused by disposable batteries. The problem with these traditional rechargeable batteries was that they often had to be charged as soon as they were out of the box because rechargeable batteries loose charge fairly quickly even when not in use and take so long to charge sometimes even 15 minutes and it does not takes many recharges for rechargeable batteries to lose full power.
Eneloop rechargeable batteries loose charge much slower then traditional rechargeable batteries and with normal use needs to be charged once a week. Once charged eneloop keeps its charge even if you store it for 6 or 12 months. ( 90 percent of the charge after 6 months, 85 percent after 12 months ) For a rechargeable battery this is a revolutionary advantage. No more worries about the state of charge of your battery. Just charge them and keep them, even after months in storage you will still have an almost full battery. In contrast to a disposable battery the eneloop rechargeable battery can be charged up to 1000 times. This saves the environment and your purse. Thus one eneloop saves the waste of 999 disposable batteries. Eneloope also last longer than traditional batteries, you can re-use one single eneloop up to 1000 times.
