About Eneloop Rechargeable Batteries

Before it was impossible to combine the advantages of disposable batteries with the advantages of rechargeable batteries and both types of batteries had their shortfalls. The Eneloop battery is a new type of battery combines the advantages of disposable batteries with the advantages of rechargeable batteries. The Eneloop was developed by SANYO in 2005 and launched in the European market in 2006.

Traditionally Disposable batteries could be used immediately out of the package and could be stored for months or even years without having worry about their self discharge and they could be used everywhere. However, once empty they had to be thrown away, were not biodegradable and a new battery had to be purchased.

When rechargeable batteries were created it solved the problem of landfill waste caused by disposable batteries.
